| A poster presented at the 2012 British Society of Haematology Conference in Scotland has demonstrated the positive impact of FerriScan in reducing the number of Thalassaemia Major patients with high liver iron at the Whittington Hospital, London, by optimising their chelation regime.
The research over a four-year period showed a clear increase in the percentage of patients in the low-risk category from 44% to 74%, and a decrease in patients in the high-risk category from 24% to 12%.
The conclusion stated that "Monitoring LIC with FerriScan and appropriate adjustment of therapy will result in improved clinical outcomes in patients with iron overload.''
