FerriScan: Information for MRI Centres
MRI Centres and FerriScan
The FerriScan technology enables MRI centres to offer this service to patients on most 1.5T scanners. Scan time is approximately 10 minutes, as a result of the FerriScan Rapide protocol introduced for commercial sites in September 2009. The FerriScan service is now established in leading hospitals and radiology centres around the world, enabling public and private patients to access this definitive quantification of liver iron concentration for the diagnosis of iron overload conditions. Referrals may by driven by specialists in a number of fields, including paediatrics, haematology and gastroenterolgy. General practitioners may also be able to provide patient referrals under certain circumstances.
