Resonance Health has lodged its submission to the Australian Medical Services Advisory Committee (MSAC) seeking reimbursement for FerriScan. A result from the submission is expected in Q3 2010.
FerriScan is reimbursed by the Canadian health services as an "Out-of-Country Medical Service". The treating clinician must forward an application for each patient to the individual provinces Ministry of Health (MOH) for approval. Once approved, the MOH will grant a timeframe for the patient to have their FerriScan. This funding process has been successfully practiced by the clinicians in Ontario since 2008.
Generally, in-patients receive full reimbursement for FerriScan and have no out of pocket expenses. Resonance Health has been in discussion with the KBV since March 2009 on a general out-patient reimbursement application and is also progressing other immediate reimbursement options including the private health insurance industry and the individual cost coverage system. A local consultant with marketing and reimbursement experience in the German medical device industry has been engaged to assist with the on-going reimbursement activities.
FerriScan is reimbursed by the Auckland and Manukau District Health Boards (DHB) and private insurers. Please contact your local DHB to find out more about reimbursement of FerriScan in your local area.
